What is cosmetic acupuncture?
Cosmetic Acupuncture or Facial Rejuvenation is a gentle, non-invasive facial treatment and an extension of traditional acupuncture. Specific cosmetic acupuncture points are needled into the face to improve skin tone, support ageing gracefully, enhance overall complexion and improve overall well being.
In Chinese Medicine we believe that external skin quality is a reflection of our internal health. That means you can apply the best and most expensive skincare on your face but if you are stressed, not sleeping, eating badly or have a hormonal imbalance - what you apply to your skin will simply not be effective.
Our focus is to create long-term changes in the health of the skin and body, not short-term quick fixes. How does it work?
Cosmetic Acupuncture treatment focuses on rejuvenating, re-energising and addressing all signs of skin concerns by stimulating, repairing and renewing skin mechanisms from within the dermis.
Treatment involves superficially inserting tiny and painless needles on the face. As the needles puncture the skin they create positive micro – traumas in the skin encouraging a cascade of crucial healing triggers. This facilitates increased micro-circulation and oxygen supply to the skin as well as encouraging the skin’s own repair mode. The rejuvenating treatment promotes detoxification and encourages production of newer and stronger collagen and elastin fibres resulting in improved firmness, elasticity, reduced fine lines, regeneration, healthier complexion and texture.
Unlike Botox or dermal fillers, facial acupuncture isn’t a quick fix of any kind. The majority of people see improvements within 3-4 weekly treatments. For concerns relating to collagen loss including deep wrinkles and sagging we recommend 6 – 12 weekly treatments. After that, you can go into what we call a “maintenance stage,” where you get the treatment every 4-8 weeks. As each patient’s skin responds differently to treatment, your practitioner will review your treatment plan if needed.

Cosmetic Acupuncture, Cosmetic Injectables and Fillers
For patients who have cosmetic injectables and fillers, there are no contraindications that mean you cannot have Cosmetic Acupuncture. If you have had previous cosmetic injectables and fillers, treatment will be tailored individually for you which will be targeted at treating the superficial layers of the skin, aiming to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and increasing blood circulation to the surface of the skin to support the overall complexion. We encourage patients to disclose the information of the sites of previous treatment to their practitioner.
