Your Initial Consultation

What happens at a Chinese Medicine Consultation?

You have the option to come in to the clinic or you can book in for an online consultation which is done via Telehealth.

On booking your appointment we will share a detailed consultation with you to learn about your health goals, past medical history and any other areas of significance. For our Advanced Women's and Fertility Initial Consultations a 3-day food and lifestyle journal pdf will also be shared for you to fill in and bring with you. If you've booked on online consultation, you will review a link for your consultation via Telehealth.

What you’ll immediately notice is different, is that I take the time to get to know you as a person. I will comprehensively discuss your main goals and take an in-depth look into your past medical history as well as current symptoms, physical and emotional health, your lifestyle and anything else that might impact your health. For those attending in person, I will also take your pulse and look at your tongue, the two principal diagnostic measures in Chinese Medicine. This allows me to get to the root of exactly what is causing your problems and most importantly, put a personalised healing plan in place - specifically for you.

I also use the consultation as an education tool for you- I try to (finally) explain exactly what is going on in your body and how to fix it. When you understand why you are doing something, it becomes a lot easier to follow.

Health is precious and needs preserving

My goal is to keep it as simple as possible, so that you can keep it up long term. I want you to feel healthy everyday and not just for the few weeks that you are following my plan. I want you to use nutrition and the tips that I teach you as preventive medicine.

For those having acupuncture you will then get to have a lovely lie down while we insert the smallest needles. Usually you have about 20 to 25 minutes with the needles in and we will  let you rest and relax deeply. Once the time is up we remove the needles and off you float.

Initially, we recommend weekly appointments for the first four - six weeks. We then review and schedule appointments as necessary.

Chinese Medicine is an ancient methodology that works towards the purpose of creating homeostasis, or balance, within the body. The Chinese medicine paradigm believes states of dis-ease occurs when our body is not in balance, therefore all our treatment plans aim to bring your body back into a state of ease and balance.

No! While acupuncture can support the symptoms associated with both acute and chronic conditions, many of our patients come into the clinic for maintenance appointments. Acupuncture journeys us towards a parasympathetic state of being that is where rest and healing occurs.
